While attending graduate school in Rome, Italy, Chris joined the US Air Force Reserve as a Chaplain Candidate, serving as a second lieutenant for the duration of his four-year program.

After completing the ROTC program at the University of Notre Dame, Dean earned his commission upon graduation and joined the US Navy, beginning his military career as an ensign. He served on active duty for four years, ultimately holding the rank of lieutenant upon his discharge.

Upon graduating from the US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in 2014, Rebekkah earned her commission and joined the US Navy Reserve, beginning her military career as an Ensign. She currently holds the rank of Lieutenant and continues to serve in the Navy Reserves.
